Catch Up Time

I know I haven't posted something in a long time, and I will try to be better about this in the future! Sorry! I have been overwhelmed by school starting and things just flying by. I will try to be brief, as I fill you in on what's been going on, and I hope to be more through in the future. Today was the 14th day of school at Wreddling as I try to fit in in this my new environment. If some of you don't know, Wreddling is a public school in Saint Charles Illinois, 40 miles outside of Chicago. What shocked me right off the bat is that the class sizes were huge, 30 plus kids a class. You don't know how lucky you are going to blake until you are thrown from your comfort zone.
It has been really awkward in school so far. I know I was never the most popular kid at school, but now I am the new kid outcast. Blake was 100 times more friendly to new kids in my opinion. At Wreddling they just threw my in there not knowing anybody. Thank goodness I at least knew some kids from my fall ball team (0-6) that share some of my classes. If it wasn't for them and their hospitality, I could have easily have perished among the couple thousand kids in 6,7,and 8th grade. I know a couple kids as friends, Dylan Ward and Kyle Ficht as two of them, but other than that I am surviving day to day.
We have been living in an apartment for the past couple weeks but I am siked to finally be moving into a town home this weekend. We have decided to build a house in the Prairie Lakes Neighborhood and so we needed a place to stay for 6-8 months while the house is being built. This town home is still close to our schools, so I can still take the bus, and it is also less expensive (who knows why!) than our apartment. Also, we wont have to pay for storage since we will have a place for all our junk. So far it's been going pretty well in Saint Charles, but Minnesota is sooooooo much better!! I miss you guys!

Ps. I want to here from some of you in MN! Also, I found out that it is nearly impossible to make new friends without owning some sort of gaming system, so I'd like to invest in a new video game system. If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments!

-Thanks and stay in touch!!

  1. Sorry im on my iPhone so this is going to be short. I can understand that it might be hard to make new friends, but it's just been about 3 weeks so I'm sure that over time you will make a bunch more friends. If you want a game system get an xbox 360, I got one a month ago and it's probably the best I've ever played on, and there are a bunch of great games. I have to go now, talk to you later.

Ps. You can skype from your phone, all you have to do is create an account, which can also be done from your phone, hopefully we can talk soon.

  2. I'm on my phone too right now, and it's really late, so this will be short. I hope things get better Fernando. Like Jack said, it just takes time. Once you get to know a few kids (which you already have), it will get much easier.

  5. its kinda cool that you know another dylan. tell him i said hi :P also i agree that it does take a little while, just try going out of your comfort zone (more than you already have) and maybe sit with new people. of course this advice is coming from me who is in minneapolis and not there so whatever you feel is appropriate go for it. good luck and keep in touch.

  6. Lol. Ok, now I have more time. Fernando, don't worry about friends. Like I said, it just takes time. Once you know a few kids, they will introduce you to other people they know and you'll get to know people faster than you expect. This is kind of the trend I have noticed with moving so many times, no matter how small or big the school is. It's really funny with my new school here though, everyone is a super-nerd! And you know how I'm sort of a nerd? I'm cool compared to these kids. WTF!!!! Everywhere you turn, you see kids with fifty pens sticking out of their shirts and carrying a bunch of excess text-books that no-one in middle school would ever need. Anyway, building a house is pretty exciting! That always makes a transition easier, when you have something to look forward to. It's also ironic that you met a kid named Dylan lol. And like Jack said, you should set-up a Skype account when you have some free time and call us.

  7. Ya for sure. Now that you mention it though, there are like no nerds at my school what so ever. No one even wheres a polo shirt except for picture day. It seems like I'm the only one who cares about grades and there isn't really a nerd class except if you go to the gifted and talented pod where kids are taking like college level math in freshmen math in 6th grade! Really bazar!
